Pine Martens
In Scotland Pine Martens are found mainly in the north. They are mustelids and a member of the weasel family. They are very good climbers and live in woodlands, living for about 8 years. Their diet consists of insects, birds, small rodents and fruit. These photos are taken in daytime, though Pine Martens are usually nocturnal. When the young aka kits, are born, they can be seen during daylight hours. The photos are of a mother (with scarring on her nose) and her two kits. Scientific name - Martes martes
